Current annual kyushinkai membership (includes British Judo Council (BJC) Licence) is mandatory:

  • Juniors £35.00 (renewal £30.00)
  • Adults £50.00 (renewal £35.00)

The term fee is payable in advance: (Please note that the summer term is 12 sessions with break on 29 May)

  • Juniors £60.00 (each additional sibling £40.00)
  • Adults £90.00

Prospective members may attend for a maximum of two consecutive weeks and pay session fees.

  • Juniors: £5.00 per session
  • Adults: £8.00 per session.

Any session fees paid will be deducted from balance of term fee on joining.

Adult casual visitors who are affiliated to another club and who have a current licence that includes personal insurance may attend by invitation for £8.00 per session.

Participants have to be dressed suitably for doing Judo. For beginners, knees and elbows should be covered and there must be no zips or hard objects that could cause injury. Regulation Judo outfits are available from the club at special prices (£25 – £35 depending on size) or from some sports shops and are to be worn as soon as possible.

As part of their development, students are encouraged to visit other clubs and also participate in relevant events and courses, especially those organised by the British Judo Council for the benefit of their members.

The numbers of children are restricted, both for their safety and to maximise the positive learning experience, so you are advised to confirm places for the new term as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. It would be appreciated if you let me know if any child will no longer be attending so that prospective new members can be accepted. Children under 8 years old are to be accompanied by a responsible adult (ratio 4:1 max preferred) who will remain during the session.

There are at present no restrictions on numbers for the adult sessions and all standards are catered for, including beginners. Judo is also enjoyed by people with a wide range of sensory and physical impairment. I am an advocate for inclusivity; please contact me for further details.

KYUSHINKAI HAS AN INCLUSIVE ETHOS AND WELCOMES INDIVIDUALS OF ALL ABILITIES.

IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE WHOLE GROUP, NUMBERS MAY BE RESTRICTED. ALSO, DANGEROUS OR DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR BY ANY INDIVIUDAL WILL RESULT IN THEIR EXCLUSION.

If you want to practice a competitive sport or just have fun and keep fit, give Judo with Kyushinkai a try.

About Judo

Judo was created for the harmonious physical and mental development of the individual as well as for self-defence and building confidence through contest proficiency.

The recent adoption of sports Judo as an Olympic event has emphasised the elitist combative aspect and perhaps obscured the value of Judo as a desirable life-skill accessible to all.

If you are looking for an activity that will improve your posture, flexibility, stamina and strength and boost your self-confidence, do Judo with Kyushinkai.

Techniques, based on the teachings of Jigoro Kano (the founder of Kodokan Judo), include

  • Forms of Control
  • Forms of Throwing
  • Forms of Decision
  • Forms of Softness
  • Sports Judo

Chief Judo instructor: Roger Marks NVQ (teaching and instructing adults and children judo) and 4th dan BJC.
